WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT

The Wounded Warrior Project's (WWP) mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. Here at T3 Adventures we take great pride in helping The Wounded Warrior Project achieve its mission. Our two primary objectives at each Odyssey are to: a) provide the WWP staff with the necessary support so they can focus their time on what matters most - the warriors: and b) provide a fun and enjoyable experience for the warriors.

Our programs are designed to help achieve an improved quality of life through Nutrition, Fitness, and Wellness. By integrating these elements into the Wounded Warrior Project Odyssey program, the warriors learn how each element affects their physical and mental well-being.

MIND-BODY WELLNESS



Wellness is an active process through which people become aware, and make healthy choices toward a higher quality of life. It is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process to achieving your health and wellness objectives. Learning how to relax your mind and body can have a profound positive effect on your physical and mental well-being. The practices below can help you build resilience - "inner strength" to bounce back from difficult situations or problems.

MEDICAL QIGONG

Qigong is one of the five branches of traditional Chinese medicine. Qigong is pronounced “chee-kung”. The direct translation is qi meaning “energy” or “breath” and gong meaning “work” or “skill”. The complete term can be translated as “energy work” or “breathing exercise”. There are thousands of styles of qigong but in general they fall into three major categories: martial, medical, and spiritual.

Qigong is a mind-body practice that improves one's mental and physical health by integrating postures, movement, breathing techniques, and focused intention. When starting a Qigong practice, make sure to start slow with basic exercises. We introduced Medical Qigong to the warriors in 2016 as a tool to help them with stress and pain management.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative yoga is the centering of your breath and body - aligning the physical and mental by practicing stillness, or gentle movement, for extended periods of time. Props assist in helping you to hold poses longer. For warriors who can feel stripped of their power over their bodies, restorative yoga empowers them to play the primary role in their own healing process.

Some benefits to restorative yoga include;

  • Deeply relaxes the body
  • Improves capacity for healing and balancing
  • Boosts the immune system
